  • 2 oz. tequila, (plus a little bit)
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 1 oz. honey simple syrup, (2 parts honey, 1 part hot water, stir to combine)
  • hot sauce, (optional)
  • 1 lime, for lime peel shot glass
  • 1 cup ice, crushed

Cooking Instructions

Have rocks glass in hand and prepare lime garnish: cut lime in half along equator and juice each half (reserving juice for cocktail). With care, gently massage the non-stem half of the lime inside out, creating a small shot glass.

Measure and pour tequila, juice, honey and optional hot sauce into shaker.

Add ice, shake & strain into rocks glass.

Add a lot of fresh ice.

Carefully place lime shot glass on cocktail, fill with tequila, and enjoy a taste of pure tequila, then sip the cocktail as a chaser.

For a mocktail substitute 2 ounces strongly brewed herbal tea for tequila. All other instructions remain the same.
